Guess what I won!!!!

I can home today to a package from the syfy channel and it contained a Lego game called the Hobbit woo hoo!

Ooooo it's hot

Reached 39.7 C here (Greenbank) today. My poor old putty tat Lulu who turned 20 late last year is sure feeling the heat this year so we had to put the air con on for her (at least she is a good excuse)😊. It has cooled off tonight so I think there is a decent chance of sleep unlike last night, although part of my problem is a sore back due to that time of the month.

Whistler wildlife

My oldest nephew MrD is the cicada whisperer. Several times cicadas have just landed on him. We've decided it's because he is the tallest thing around when they hatch.

New Year Toddler time

Yeah!! First Toddler time of the year. I tried out two new shaker songs that were very well received. Introduced some great pre literacy info for the parents. Our toddler times run for about 20 mins filled with songs and rhymes and a simple story. Today's stories was one of my favorites, based on Is your Grandmother a goanna? By Pamela Allen. I tell the story using a referees whistle for the station master, a wooden train whistle for the train and give out shakers to the kids to help with the train noises. It's always a success and today was no exception.

Ahhhhhh! Niece and nephews

Just spent the last hour and a half listening to my 12 yro niece MissT whine about ringing to book in for school hol activities. Her grandmother rang and booked her into 3 sessions and then we decided it was her turn and she chucked a tantrum worthy of a 2 yro.

Doctor Who tears (spoiler alert)

I've just watched the last episode of series 7 of Doctor Who "The angels take Manhattan" for the second time. I've had it available for quite a while now but I couldn't bring myself to watch it
as I cried the first time when the doctor lost Amy and Rory. Guess what cried the second time too. Usually I don't get that involved but I love Doctor Who and it's a toss up between Donna and Amy & Rory as to who is my favorite companion/s.

I'm back

Been a while since I've blogged anything but I've decided to get back to it in order to put down in writing some of the weird and wonderful thoughts and ideas in my mind. Also to vent about the things that frustrate me and to share the wacky world I inhabit.

Today I feel the need to share the joy of Lego. I run a Lego literacy club at the library where I work where we have a fantastic time and learn a little bit too. I am constantly amazed at the fantastic ideas the kids have and the amazing things they build.

This is a small sample of one of the activities we did where the kids had to create the longest sentence they could that still made sense.
